Sept. 05 My Sincere Apologies to Hurricane Katrina Victims - |
|
I am so sorry! If we'd had any idea that the government would let you suffer so badly and for so long my family would have packed trucks and come help you ourselves. So would many others. We had no idea that they would leave you for days without help. It was unfathomable to us. I do not believe that it was a conscious decision to allow poor (mostly black) people to suffer yet I would bet my life that if this disaster happened at a convention of white male bankers, by the fourth day they would not only have had food and water but golf links and Viagra. Regarding those who were afraid to go into the city - ambulance drivers and and others. These people need to be replaced in their jobs. Fear is understandable but not acceptable in those whose job it is to help others. We have donated as much money as we can, realizing that it is too little too late but it's the best we can do. We plan to prepare ourselves to be better able to help you, ourselves and whoever is next struck by disaster without waiting for the cowboy government who would rather plan new ways to kill terrorists (real and imagined) than take care of its people. Americans are going to have to take better care of each other.
Christ knows we can't depend on our government to do it! |
