This site is a sample for those who are using Facebook for marketing or in an attempt to build traffic. Traffic to Facebook really isn’t going to do most organizations much good unless it can be redirected. Even in cases where Facebook is the ultimate destination, that can change on a dime when Facebook makes some new set of policies or “upgrades”. Using  a third party site or app is an iffy proposition because you have so little control. The goal should be to use Facebook for building the traffic on your own site where you will always have control and which can stay stable regardless of what Facebook decides to do next.

It is also really important in terms of protecting your traffic and your content.  Facebook pages can be closed due to hackers, vindictive neighbors, or any content that someone thinks is inappropriate. Recently a couple of birthing related Facebook pages were shut down. When a Facebook page is deleted or shut down all the content is gone too. You can be left scrambling to rebuild and can lose a lot.

Facebook integration is constantly changing. The apps used in this site do a pretty good job of moving traffic both ways, to the site from Facebook and to Facebook from this site. That’s a good thing and allows for the benefits of both the site and the Facebook traffic.

The current Facebook Status Update shows on this page. (The page does not refresh in real time but hourly.)  A post written in this site can be shared on a Facebook Fan Page and will show up on both sites with some pretty neat options on how you want that set up.  If you have multiple fan pages you can create content for them all from here choosing from the “post” page what options you want to use, including what page you wish to post to.  Comments on your post will also show up in a widget here.
