| This is what happens when you live in a tourist trap and go out to
eat. You end up spending forty bucks to have your picture taken with a
cat. The truth is I didn't care about the picture. I wanted to get in
the cage and play with the cats (there were about half a dozen of this
age group). Of course, that's not allowed so the only way to get your
hands on one of these gorgeous animals is to take the photo-op.
I don't follow directions well and had to be told a couple of times
to keep my hand on the bench. As soon as I discovered that my hand was
supposed to be on the bench to keep it from distracting the cat (as
opposed to keeping me from being a liva-snack) I had to keep petting him
under his chin. What they tell me is that people distract the cat then
don't like the picture that results when the cat is distracted.
They wouldn't let me bring him home and Ken says we can't get one of
our own. (He's so conservative sometimes!)
These tigers are owned by Doc Antle who you've probably seen on Jay
Leno or some other show. He also owns the leopards used in the Schwepps
commercials and a LOT of other large beasties. Info about him and his
mission can be found at
www.tigers-animal-actors.com It's very interesting. Take a
look.
Pictures can also be taken with the BIG cats and I'm working my way
up to that. The money goes to the great cause of saving these endangered
animals so it's easy to justify spending the sixty for a big cat picture
BUT I didn't notice in the pamphlet anything about what happens to the
first person who catches this 600 pound cat in a bad mood and has to
have their limbs re-attached. That could get expensive, ya know? (Not
that I don't have the greatest faith in Doc Antle and his crew but ...)
By the way, we never did get dinner that night. The other thing about
living in a tourist trap is that there are a million people waiting to
have dinner everywhere!
I'm a person who pets tigers! I don't wait in line
for food.
Well, that was my mood anyway. If you ever get the chance,
don't hesitate to spend the money for the picture. It's well worth it.
Even if you go home hungry you'll go home empowered. |
